GALERIA MELISSA X BAJA EAST
Galeria Melissa was founded in 1979. What makes Melissa different from your average high street shop is that it doubles as an art gallery. using it’s bottom floor for a big installation.
They collaborate with different designers and labels for shoes collections, like Karl Lagerfield and Jeremy Scott, and also create something interactive that reflects the shoes. Previously with the Scott exhibition they created a ball pit in the lower floor that was meant to look like a swimming pool.
The current collection is a collaboration with Baja East and have created a tropical feel to the lower floor, paired with palm trees that greet you when you enter the shop. The bottom room is covered with what is meant to look like black sand, paired with black palm trees and deck chairs. A projector displays sunset-esque imagery that was also glitched and distorted in some ways.
It’s a cool place to just check out in the area of Covent Garden even though you’re not interested in purchasing anything.
