LFW FESTIVAL

Not quite a beauty or fashion blogger yet? Then London Fashion Week Festival is the perfect fashion week substitute for you!

The festival happens twice a year, the weekend after the main London Fashion Week so the next one is in September. Entry to the festival starts at £20 for a ticket which allows you to a four/five hour time slot within the building. For an extra £25 you get a tote bag and get to see a catwalk show from either a designer or trends for the current season. Lastly for £60 you get all the above but get to see both catwalks (designer and trend).

The festival showcases a wide range of designers from collections from reality show celebrities like Millie Mackintosh and Jess Woodley (both ex stars from Made in Chelsea) to samples of Yves Saint Laurent and Prada. The space displayed over 150 different brands ranging from high fashion, jewellery and street style so there is something for everyone. Everything was available to purchase too, with most things coming out with a hefty discount. We found a coat originally priced at £1250 discounted down to £299.. just less than a grand cheaper.

As well as shops dotted about, there were a number of different drink stands (cocktail time anyone??), massage appointments available and also hair and nail revamps whilst you wait! There is literally everything there that you can think of for you to have a little breather during the day.

There were so many different photo opportunities dotted about from the moment you walk in with projector walls, massive letter signs and big murals! Take the opportunity to show off your fashion week outfit. Also they had a little section sponsored by Instax, the polaroid company. They had a Instax wall with red blue and yellow projections where people were taking polaroids for you. A nice little gesture and something free to take away. Speaking of free dotted around were loads of popcorn packets, Evian water and Elle magazines.

For a little extra you could attend different talks that were being put on along the whole weekend. The talks ranged from the revival of Fiorucci, Capturing your audience in the digital age and starting up an independent magazine by Gal-den collective, which we personally attended. The talks helped to give you a look into the different aspects of fashion and style. For those starting out, just like us, it's interesting to see how others have been in the same situation.

As stated before the festival also included a catwalk which showcased either a designers collection or the different trends that are meant to be up and coming this season. The different designers that showcased over the weekend were Zandra Rohdes, Jamie Wei Huang, Nicopanda and Juicy Culture. The trends consisted:

Vintage Vacation - Bold prints paired with items that could be found in a market.

New Wave - Graphic splashes of colours and strong silhouette tailoring.

Cyber Sports - the perfect blending of 90s Ibiza clothing and technical sportswear.

Everything on the catwalks were also showcased in the main section of the festival so you could buy the trends you saw.

This year is over so you'll have to wait till September for the next festival. Make sure to look around for discounts! We got  20% discount from the Evening Standard but also Instax were giving people money off too!

Follow the festival on social media below to hear about where tickets are going on sale and to keep up with the different designers showcasing themselves!
